At Family Nurturing Center, we believe every child deserves a strong start—and every parent deserves a caring support system. Through our G2G Family Coaches program, trusted, trained volunteers offer encouragement and mentorship to parents of young children during the most critical years of early development, from pregnancy to preschool.

These volunteers—often older adults with a lifetime of wisdom and compassion—walk alongside families, offering connection, care, and consistency. In turn, they experience renewed purpose, belonging, and the joy of giving back.

What We Do

For generations, communities have turned to their elders for support, wisdom, and guidance. The G2G Family Coaches program builds on this timeless tradition, connecting seasoned adults with new or overwhelmed parents in need of encouragement, practical help, and a listening ear.

Working in collaboration with local agencies, our coaches nurture strong family bonds, reduce parental stress, and help lay the foundation for healthy childhood development—all at no cost to the families we serve.

Who Are G2G Family Coaches

Our G2G Family Coaches are trained volunteers of all genders and backgrounds who bring life experience, empathy, and patience into the homes of families with young children.

Each coach:

  • Completes thorough training and background checks

  • Provides non-medical, trauma-informed support

  • Builds trust through compassionate presence and relational care

  • Offers practical help that eases the daily stress of parenting

They are mentors—not babysitters or housekeepers. They model nurturing behavior, uplift caregivers, and remind families they are not alone.

Our Mission

  • Give every child a nurturing foundation for lifelong success

  • Model healthy parenting and promote secure parent-child relationships

  • Support families facing adversity with nonjudgmental, strength-based care

  • Create meaningful roles for older adults to stay active, engaged, and connected

Why It Matters

By age three, a child’s brain is nearly fully developed. Early relationships shape emotional regulation, learning capacity, and lifelong wellbeing. But many caregivers—especially those parenting in isolation or poverty—struggle to meet their child’s emotional needs during these early years.

At the same time, older adults represent the fastest-growing segment of our population. Many are active, healthy, and eager to contribute. G2G Family Coaches offers a bridge between these generations—addressing the isolation both new parents and older adults often feel.

What G2G Family Coaches Do

Support is always tailored to the family’s needs. A G2G Family Coach might:

  • Hold and soothe a fussy baby

  • Help with diapering, feeding, or folding baby laundry

  • Read books, sing songs, or play games with siblings

  • Support parents during errands or medical appointments

  • Prepare simple meals or wash baby bottles

  • Share parenting strategies and positive reinforcement

  • Offer calm, judgment-free presence during difficult moments

  • Teach techniques like infant massage to promote bonding

The Impact

The presence of a caring adult can transform a child’s future—and relieve the burdens of caregiving in powerful ways. Studies show that early home-based support improves:

  • Bonding and attachment

  • Parental confidence and well-being

  • Child nutrition and school readiness

  • Involvement from extended support systems

  • Emotional regulation and behavior outcomes

Children with positive early experiences are more likely to thrive in school, maintain healthy relationships, and avoid long-term challenges related to mental health, substance use, or poverty.

The Return on Compassion

Harvard economists estimate that every $1 invested in early childhood support saves society between $3.78 and $17.07—in reduced costs for health care, education, criminal justice, and welfare.

Investing in families early is not just the right thing to do—it’s the smartest
